Our Story

We first started as a humble family of matcha enthusiast in our home paired with love of Japanese food, and start to develop deep love towards matcha as part of our daily drink. That love grew into a lifetime relationship, build bond between us and to share with matcha culture. Through more than 30 different variants, rigorous testing, travels, and listening to other matcha enthusiast, we select the finest matcha for you. Our matcha is procured straight from Japan, carefully harvested, and organic stone-milled.

Our research has found that matcha, due to its unique bioactive compounds, offers a wide range of health benefits. It contains high concentrations of phenolic acids, quercetin, rutin, L-theanine, and chlorophyll, exceeding those in other green tea varieties. Its infusions and extracts may find potential applications in preventing lifestyle diseases of free-radical and inflammatory origin, as well as preventing premature ageing processes (secret of Japanese longevity and youth).

Many people that tried matcha in our journey think it has unique bitterness in a way, that is true nonetheless, but probably they have tried the lower grade matcha.

Matcha grade above explained clearly why different grades define the taste, starting from lowest grade culinary, latte, all the way to ceremonial. The ceremonial has 2 grades of varieties that differentiate its strength and usage, one is called Usu-cha which is similar to drip coffee, another one is Koi-cha which is similar to a shot of espresso.

What we offer

Our matcha exclusively comes from Shizuoka using top 3 different variants of single matcha cultivars: Okumidori, Samidori, and Yabukita. Matcha enthusiast would probably know these matcha cultivars, especially “Samidori” as the highest grade of all matcha in the world known from the strongest umami flavor and beautiful baby green color. The matcha leaf is treated, stone-milled using granite pestle, and added straight to our bag to you to preserve its natural sweetness and flavor.

Shizuoka is located in Japan's Pacific ocean coast, home of the famous Mt. Fuji. It is well-known throughout history for its tea plantation since it first brought by a Monk, Shoichi Kokushi back in 1244 in Ashikubo, Suruga. Shizuoka Prefecture is the largest producer of green tea in Japan. There are eight production areas of green tea in Shizuoka, and our tea comes from Honyama mountain. The rich sweet taste and mellow flavour of the tea is a result of the leaves being grown on the mountain slopes of Japan. The shape of these area helps to produce temperature gap and make river fog. The fog covers the tea leaves and prevent the leaves from sunlight. Sweet taste and high quality of leaves are grown in these environment.

It is also known that the tea from this area was the favourite of famous Japanese Shogun, Ieyasu Tokugawa. He was attracted by the unique flavour of the tea. The Shizuoka green tea industry history describes the story that Shogun used the tea come from this area

Our Sakura powder sourced directly from Tanzawa mountains in Kanagawa prefecture and Izu in Shizuoka prefecture. We carefully selected the Sakura petals, and Sakura leaves, and grind them into Sakura powder to create a delightful pink color. We carefully harvest our Sakura petals from two different variants of Japanese Sakura tree; Yaezakura, and Oshimazakura. ‘Oshimazakura’ Cherry blossom is an edible Sakura that contains rich Coumarin. Coumarin is a type of plant unique aromatic compound found in Sakura leaves.

We want to bring these benefits of matcha and its unique flavor towards your daily life, whether it’s a substitute for coffee, your love towards matcha, strong interest of Japanese culture, or just to be captivated from the alluring green color of it.
We know that matcha is a luxury commodity. We also know how much matcha lover is out there, yet we want to bring it as affordable as possible so everyone can enjoy the finest treat.
